One month only? I thought 6 months have passed.

The fact that I can make this post shows I am no longer in confinement. Our punishment was reduced to 1 day confinement at the last moment. Many thanks to our immediate commanders for helping us to "negotiate". After all, almost 3 weeks stuck in camp can send people to IMH.

As to what transpired to this outcome, it was very simple. Last Saturday, we were "forced" to go down to Marina Barrage to support our local rock band Electrico in their music video filming. (Electrico will sing the NDP theme song for this year) Crowds were needed, so to make up the numbers, troops from 3 Signal Battalion (or more?) had the "honour" of being part of this event. We and many many more had the same honour on Wednesday too.

At the end of it when the MC said we all could leave, we did just that. Most of us from my platoon didn't know about the need to take attendance after it so we were punished lor. It was supposed to be obvious to take attendance but being in 3Sig for only 3 weeks, we did not know. Okay, this my side of the story. Dun comment on this.

This week was the first of many. First time doing defaulter's parade (super-fast marching that lasted 20mins), first to do sai kang out of camp, first confinement and first SOC in months. It seems we are running out of sai kang that we have to do other people's sai kang. Some of us (me included) took the 5-tonner out to another camp just to bring 10+ steel cupboards back to another unit in Jurong Camp. All we got out of it was a word of thanks and 2 bottles of mineral water. As my bunkmate jokingly said, we the UIP bunch have a special hotline called 1800-3saikang that anyone in Jurong Camp can call.

I had my first SOC on Friday in months. BMT was the last time I did SOC in fact. We did at SAFTI MI ground. Despite the long rest since then, most of us still remembered our techniques. The lighter M-16 rifile we will be using should hopefully give a higher passing rate. But with the 600/700m rundown included now, not sure about whether I can still pass anot. I still remembered clearing all the items on the SOC test eve of POP only to fail the timing.

So thats all for another hellish week, now to prepare for next. Bookout today, bookin today again. How I wish I was still in slackmore camp... Sadly, one month in 3 Signal has gradually faded my memories of that heavenly place.

(Btw, I just received my platoon photo of Signal Institute at Stagmont Camp. Its at this post.)
