Interhouse debates Prelims

I guess the result is quite expected lah. So I might as well I say that we won right here and now.

With 2 MIDC-class debaters and another with certain experience, winning was almost a certainty despite only confirming the team line-up only yesterday. The opposing team only had one MIDC debater and 2 other J1s from outside the debating CCA. No doubt, it was Ben that got the best speaker.

Nevertheless, I felt that they were no mere pushovers. Their Points Of Informations and fluency could easily triumph many in the school population. But of course, thats why they were willing to join the competition in the first place. The points they came up with were relevant although the adjudicator felt they were only "revolving" about the same thing.

The result of the debate in the other room came as a shock to me! The team which had 2 J1 members from debates lost to the other team completely made up of J1 non-debaters. After listening to the adjudicator speech by Mdm Ainon, I realised some of them could be seasoned debaters from secondary school. She even "publicised" to one of them to join debates so he could realise his potential. But I feel that guy is unlikely to take up that offer at this late point in time.

The finals for the interhouse debates will be held in the same day and time two weeks from now. Dunno whether I can make it with the coming prelims.

Finally, before I end off, I would like to thank my team for putting in the effort. Especially killerzephyr for chipping in at the last moment and saving the Dragon team! Thank you!
