Overall results + Chart toppers

Edit 1 (16/7 8.31pm): The best ranking points in our class is only held by Yan Yu.

The last of our unreceived papers (H1 Econs Case study) was given back to us barely an hour and a half ago. So with that, here are my overall scores.

Physics 62.8 B
Chemistry (unknown raw) E
Mathematics 57.5 C

Economics 53.5 D (originally 49.5)
General Paper 62.0 B

Calculated ranking points=57.5

I have commented on my 3 H2 subjects in my previous two posts, one on 8/7 and another on 9/7. Now for the two H1 subjects.

First up GP. My compre at 27/50 is mediocre by my standard although its relatively good. Then surprise surprise, I got 35/50 for the essay! 20 for content and 15 for language. Dun be too quick to shoot me though. Its all because the topic was "Cyberspace is the most natural medium for developing and monitoring political power. Comment" I have typed out a copy of my essay on my Wordpress blog for viewing. You can take a look here.

With this, its not hard to see why I can do well. Next time, maybe not so high anymore. Besides, I inserted alot of content like the technology quotation from a talk by US ambassador Patricia Herbold to Singapore in April at TJC.

Next Econs, Woah! Ms Poh shocked the class earlier in the day by showing statistics that only two people in class got Ds and the rest failed. Although this was a reality when we received our case studies, the Econs department decided to add 4 marks to everybody because of our effort.

I actually deserve an E at 49.5. My case study really dragged my 15/25 essay down at 27/60. This is compounded by the fact that it is 70%. Dunno why Ms Poh round up for me. The true blue D is Yanyu at 51.7.

Now with the four marks, many have passed! I remain at D while Yanyu has gone up to C. Shan't begrudge this further.

Now for the chart toppers in our class.

Physics B: Chek Keng
Chemistry B: Chek Keng or Hazel
Mathematics A (and I must stress its a very HIGH A) : Guo Hao

Economics C: Yan Yu
General Paper B: Myself!

If my calculations are correct, Chek Keng and Yan Yu top the class with an identical 60.0 rank points.

My mistake above, Yan Yu is the only top with 60.0 rank points.

Congratulations to all these people for their hard work! Keep up the good work!!!

As to the rest of the class, work even harder. Now its only the prelims that stand between us and the A Levels. Put in more hours studying, cut down on that computer or TV time. Do well we shall!
