The march begins. Today!

Edit 1 (10/7 8.00pm): It was Wei Min's birthday too.
Edit 2 (12/7 11.30am): Added screenshot of what "Potential GP A/B graders" have to do.

Term 3 officially began yesterday. But the extended timetable started today! And the intensity could be felt even though we were just going through the mid year scripts. Wah piang... The lessons for everyday end on the average at 5.30pm with few breaks in between. No more early Thursdays or CCA days to slack. All for the sake of the bloody A-Levels!

Even today when we were released at 5pm (the earliest time of the week, latest at 6.15pm), I was simply too tired by the time I reached home to read anything, much less study or do tutorials. And this is considering that I purposely had a good 7 hours sleep yesterday to refresh myself. This is really hell! And this is just the FIRST DAY! I wonder what will happen to me if we have to repeat this routine day after day after day till the As.

And update to my results. The question 11 in Maths Paper 1 which was accidentally left unmarked only yielded me ONE extra mark. That leaves my Maths at C (57.5). All else remains, Physics B and Chem E. Got back GP paper 2 today. An expected 27/50. But my AQ got 6! The highest so far. But the language mark at 9 is also the lowest this year.

And I feel so out-of-place in Chem Band 1. Generally, a pass and above will grant a place in Band 1, S graders will be in Band 2 and U for Band 3. I can't help feeling that I deserve to be in Band 2. Cos thats where my true standard really lie.

On a brighter (or darker) note, Chuen Hwee and I got chosen by Ms Shahida for some GP band for potential A/B graders in A-Levels. From the list shown, it seems only two from each class are selected. Its seems more stressful lah. Got dunno what kind of "special treatment", must report to the tutors for dunno what... All in the name to ensure that we dun "slacken and get a C in the end." What bullshit! I rather place any extra time in pulling up my H2 subjects (especially Chem) then to ensure I get at least a B. Not to say I will confirm do well for GP, but one has to look at the facts. If my (and Chwee) chances of passing GP are already close to 100%, its more efficient to divert any additional effort to brushing up our H2s. Unless of course, they are straight As, then I have no objection in trying to get an A for GP as well.

These are the preliminary details. See already also stress!

Screw all my other interests lah. We all hear the same old stuff from teachers and parents. Study hard now and the rewards will come later. The opportunity costs of studying are always rendered negligible in Singapore in the face relentless pragmatism. Wonder has anyone actually measured the economic/social/political costs of such a system?

--------------------------------------------------

Happy birthday to Jun Hong and Wei Min!

Hope you can recognise the birthday boys!

Most of our class's birthdays are clustered in the second half of the year. Some school arrangement that dates back to PAE last year in arranging students by their IC number.

--------------------------------------------------

Given the heavy timetable. It looks like I can only blog during the weekends. A probable schedule would be the week's round up on Friday night with a post on Sunday night before the start of the week. Keep checking!
