I received this certificate of participation of the MIDC 2008
. This should be one of the last few certificates of participation I will receive in NYJC. From secondary school till now, I seem to have amassed a huge collection of such certificates. I'm sure everyone is too.
Will use the $10 Borders voucher to get the Freakonomics
This signifies that I have as good as that stepped down from my both CCAs already. Journalism had its last meeting that includes both J1s and J2s last Wednesday. With exception for the pizzas at the end, nothing really exciting watching the J1s hold the meeting. It just ends, so quickly. I still remembered how small
the team was last year, its still the same story this year, except with more guys! Though I seldom say it, being the only J2 guy left in a CCA is tough sometimes.
For debates, nothing much to say. Ben the president shall hold one more last meeting (I guess) this Wednesday, solo.
Picking the President and Vice-president of debate out of only four J1 members should not be counted as a valid democracy at all. But that issue is furthest from my mind now. I shall not involve myself in any school stuff except of studies from now. Organisation of Inter-House Debates? Not interested! What about participating in it if it somehow managed to get organised? No as well.
Hmm.. Come to think of it, I will be participating in the Econs quiz at NUS on 26 July under the recommendation of Ms Poh. Ahh, nvm, one day only. Besides, it can really help improve my knowledge of stuff. Shouldn't adversely affect my Prelim preparations I guess.
The two upcoming SPAs are also killers. Had a mock Chem SPA today. After I did corrections for my "Badly Done" work, Mrs Lim commented that I was a "typical Physics student" who cannot memorise Chem stuff. Its not very far from the truth.
The fact is that I'm doing reasonably well in the other subjects especially Physics during the official tests. Only Chem is dragging me down. Each time a sore thumb on my result slip. So even more effort I guess, failing a H2 subject is equal to university admission to my target of a NUS Computer Science course down the drain.
It was Jia Cheng's birthday yesterday but I forgot to post his picture. So happy belated birthday Jia Cheng! You are one of the first few in our class that has turned 18! That means you can drink and smoke!!! No, I dun believe you will smoke, just dun get drunk! Hahaha.
It seems that the birthday kid always gets smashed by none other than the guyish-girl. Our class people sure know who is that lah.
Btw, Yanyu also did reply abit about that issue
on her blog
. (Click this direct link
if you have not read it). I do appreciate my friendship with her too and I really feel its unethical for others to make fun of it in this way. Is it the human instinct to make fun of two friends of the opposite gender? I sure cannot attach a definite answer to it. But my passive anecdotal observations clearly points in that direction. Even I succumb to it sometimes, but not on the level till it irritates others.
Come to think of it, this is the worst and most high-tech scandal I have been embroiled in. Multi-megapixel handphones equipped with Bluetooth capability can really start something out of nothing, and blow it up even bigger. This is not the first time such stuff has happened. Look to the media and Internet for more examples. I guess this is the necessary evil everyone has to live with and wary of, in this day and age.
